Sweet 16 - Episode V

To follow up yesterday's post is another quick update on Academy's little F-16. The Viper is now pretty much all built, except for additional details that I'll add later. Of course, there are still the obvious things missing, like the weapons and avionics pods which will be covered in the next episode. You may also notice that I have left the wheels off. I tend to do that to make painting a bit easier. They be one of the last items attached.
So lets begin with a few pictures...

As you can see, the F-16 can carry quite a load across nine different stations. With the right configuration, the little fighter can carry up to eight munitions, giving it fantastic versatility as an air defense fighter, or ground support platform.

Here is a real photo (not taken by me) to show what the real things look like up close.

And how they are represented in the kit...not bad.

I'll be modeling my F-16 carrying two AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles on the wing tips, two AIM-9L/Ms on stations 2 and 8, and finally, two GBU-31s on stations 3 and 7.
As usual, the kit detail is splendid even at this scale.
The only real effort I'm going to have to put in to correcting this kit will come as a result of a gap created by a panel forward of the canopy as seen here.

Still I really can't complain. I'm just thankful I haven't busted those little pitot tubes off yet [knocks on wood].
So there you have it, the major construction is finished. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for the next installment. Weapons!
